Retired Teacher/Full- Time Stone Sculptor

After 30 years of teaching Art in Fauquier County Public Schools, I am now a full-time carver. As a part-time sculptor, I'd be lucky to get ten hours of carving in each week. Now I am in the studio everyday and loving it!

With more time available, I am creating new series of work and I need to find a gallery that is a good fit. Since my work able to withstand the elements, I'd like to find a gallery with an outdoor exhibit space. I have been installing large (even monumental) sculptures in my yard. My perfect fit would be a gallery that represents me and would bring clients to my home to view professional installed outdoor sculpture in a setting that is enhanced by plantings and landscape design of my wife, Cindy, a Virginia Naturalist.

The Healing Garden Fountain

The Healing Garden on the grounds of The Culpeper Regional Hospital unveiled a fountain in October of 2013. Commissioned by Cathy Zielinski in memory of her husband, Dr. Christopher Zielinski. He is fondly remembered in the Culpeper community as a caring physician. His specialty was hand surgery.

Sculpture for Scarborough Faire

My latest commission has been installed at a wonderful shopping center called Scarborough Faire in Duck, NC. Recently I visited the site and introduced visitors to stone carving during their "Faire Days" held every Wednesday throughout the summer.

The theme of the stone sculpture is shells found on the North Carolina Coast. The sea provides us with a natural treasure hunt and a walk down the beach is never the same once you begin to recognize a few shells. It is my hope that the sculpture will encourage people to be more conscientious stewards of our coast by taking an interest in shells and the creatures that inhabit them.
